Who am I?
During my career I developed myself as a digital pioneer in positions in which:
- I did set up (in 1985) the very first computer lab in Zimbabwe (Mutare Teacher Training College).
- I could research how ICT in Africa can be applied in sectors such as agriculture, education and health with the
International Institute for Communication and Development (IICD, an applied reseach organization established by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs)
- I was able to develop and implement the information systems and information flows for the decentralized care system for the municipality of Amsterdam.
- I could make available quality academic education to rural population in East Africa (see the VUU: The Virtual University of Uganda at https://virtualuni.ac.ug). I have been lecturing from 2011-2021 (via the WWW) in the MSc programme “ICTs for Development” in courses such as Introduction to ICT4development, Software and Database for Development and the course on Data science.
- I could focus on how to apply ICT and data science in the Dutch youthcare.

I am an initiator, a coaching manager and an enthusiastic innovator in “soft sectors” such as international cooperation, (youth) care and education.
After my retirement in 2019 I remained active as a board member information / ICT for two large healthcare organizations in the Netherlands and for a few appealing projects:
From May 2021 until January 2023 I worked for a great part of my time as research coordinator for the Covid-19 data program of the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport with researchers from Universities, Academic medical centers, RIVM, GGDs, NIVEL, TNO, etc.).
Since 2019 I am a guest lecturer at a number of universities of applied sciences about the possibilities and impossibilities of data analysis in the healthcare
I am supporting the Ministry of Health in Uganda with the development of the pandemic preparedness directorate.
